The race will be a qualifying event for the IUTA Ultra Trail Grand Prix.

The race is also part of the Valli Aretine Trail Series.

The race is part of the circuit sponsored by Scott Sports Italia.

TRAIL SACRED FORESTS – RULES & REGULATIONS

Art. 1 ORGANIZATION

ASD BADIA PRATAGLIA 2001, with the support of Pro Loco Badia Prataglia and under the patronage of CSI AREZZO, is organising the eleventh edition of TRAIL SACRED FORESTS on Sunday 31 May 2026. This is a trail running race, a long-distance run in nature, in semi-self-sufficiency.

Art. 2 ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS

The Trail Sacred Forests will take place in accordance with these regulations, any amendments and notices that will be published on the website www.trailsacredforests.com and on the Trail Sacred Forests Facebook and Instagram pages.
Competitors are also required to comply with the highway code, particularly in sections where the route crosses ordinary roads, which will not be closed to vehicular traffic.
Participation in the Sacred Forests Trail implies the unreserved acceptance of these regulations, in their entirety, by registered competitors.
By registering, each competitor undertakes to comply with these regulations and releases the organisers from any civil or criminal liability for any accident or incident, for damage to persons or property resulting from or caused by them, which may occur during the event.

Art. 3 GENERAL INFORMATION

The Trail Sacred Forests is a trail running event (nature/mountain running) along the trails of the Casentino Forest National Park, Monte Falterona and Campigna. When registering, participants can choose their preferred distance from:

• ULTRA TRAIL 75 KM 4.000 D+
• LONG TRAIL 50 KM 3.000 D+
• TRAIL 25 KM 1.500 D+
• SHORT TRAIL 14 KM 800 D+

All races are run in semi self-sufficiency.

Art. 4 PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Competitive trails are open to athletes aged 18 and over who hold a valid medical certificate for competitive athletics and are members of FIDAL, Runcard, or other sports promotion bodies. No specific requirements are needed for the non-competitive walk, though good physical condition and trekking experience are recommended.

Athletes currently disqualified for doping violations will not be accepted.

Art. 5 SEMI SELF-SUFFICIENCY

The race is semi-self-sufficient in terms of water and food. Refreshment stations will be supplied with food and drinking water. Plastic cups will not be available at any refreshment station, so runners must bring their own cup or other suitable container for drinking. Each runner must ensure that, when leaving each refreshment point, they have the minimum amount of water required as mandatory equipment and sufficient food reserves to reach the next refreshment point. Personal assistance on the course is prohibited and is only allowed at refreshment points. It is forbidden to be accompanied on the course by another person who is not officially registered.

Art. 6 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Registration will open on 14 February 2026 and close on 27 May 2026. In any case, registration will close when the maximum number of participants is reached:

  • 100 participants for the Ultra Trail (75 km)
  • 250 participants for the Long Trail (50 km)
  • 250 participants for the Trail (25 km)
  • 250 participants for the Short Trail (14 km)

In the event that registrations are closed due to the maximum number being reached well in advance, the organiser reserves the right to establish a waiting list for the acceptance of additional registrations in the event of any cancellations, in accordance with the procedures that will be communicated on the website www.trailsacredforests.com and on the Trail Sacred Forests Facebook page.
The organisation reserves the right to award wild cards even if the maximum number of athletes admitted is exceeded, at its sole discretion.

Registration method: Online via the ENDU platform with payment by bank transfer or credit card. A valid medical certificate for competitive athletics must be uploaded on DataHealth or sent to sacredforests@evodata.it. Bib numbers will not be distributed without a valid certificate, and no refund will be issued.

One-day membership fee: €5

Art. 7 REGISTRATION FEES

Fees are structured in two tiers: 

From 14 February 2026 to 14 April 2026
• ULTRA TRAIL 75 KM: 100 EURO
• LONG TRAIL 50 KM: 50 EURO
• TRAIL 25 KM: 30 EURO
• SHORT TRAIL 14 KM: 20 EURO

From 15 April 2026 to 27 May 2026
• ULTRA TRAIL 75 KM: 120 EURO
• LONG TRAIL 50 KM: 60 EURO
• TRAIL 25 KM: 35 EURO
• SHORT TRAIL 14 KM: 25 EURO

Non-competitive eco walk covering 14 km: 15 euros

No on-site registration will be available.

Included in the registration fee:

• Race bib
• Medical assistance along the route
• Refreshments along the route and at the finish line
• Race pack with technical and/or food products (only for competitive races)
• Finisher medal (only for competitive races)
• Pasta party

Art. 8 REFUNDS

In the event of withdrawal after registration, for any reason: – under no circumstances will the registration fee be refunded, – race numbers may not be transferred from one competitor to another, – registration may not be transferred to the following edition.

Art. 9 MANDATORY / STRONGLY RECOMMENDED GEAR

Mandatory: By registering, each runner agrees to carry all the mandatory equipment listed below throughout the race, under penalty of disqualification.

Mandatory equipment may be checked when collecting race numbers, at the start, at the finish and at random locations along the route (depending on the weather conditions forecast for the day of the race, the list of mandatory equipment may be subject to change):

• Race bib clearly visible throughout the race for all races
• Mobile phone (charged, with emergency numbers saved in the phonebook)
• Water bottle or Camelbak or cup (plastic cups will not be available at refreshment points)
• Thermal blanket (only for Ultra 75 km, Long Trail 50 km and Trail 25 km)
• Whistle
• Headlamp with rechargeable batteries (only for Ultra Trail 75 km and Trail 50 km 3,000 d+)
• Trail shoes (trails are likely to be wet and slippery in places, so trail shoes will give you better grip)

Strongly recommended:

• Windproof jacket
• Solid food.

The use of walking poles is permitted if carried from the start to the end of the race. They may not be left with the organisers or with external persons at refreshment points or points accessible to the public, under penalty of a time penalty.

Depending on the weather conditions on the day of the race, mandatory equipment may be modified and/or added. Any changes will be communicated on our social media profiles and/or on our website.

Art. 10 BIB AND RACE PACK PICK-UP

Race bibs/race packs can be collected on Saturday 30 May (recommended) from 3pm to 9pm (mandatory for ultra 75 km) and on Sunday morning up to 40 minutes before the start of the race in which the athlete will participate (excluding 75 km).

Art. 11 SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

An emergency call point is set up at each refreshment station. These points are connected by radio or telephone to the race management. Ambulances, civil protection and doctors will be present in the area. The emergency points are intended to provide assistance to all persons in danger using the organisation’s own resources or through affiliated organisations. Official doctors are authorised to suspend competitors who are deemed unfit to continue the race. Rescue workers are authorised to evacuate runners deemed to be in danger by any means at their disposal. In case of necessity, for reasons that are in the interest of the person being rescued, solely and exclusively at the discretion of the organisation, the official rescue service will be called upon, which will take over the management of operations and deploy all appropriate means, including helicopters. Any costs arising from the use of these exceptional means will be borne by the person rescued in accordance with the regulations in force. A runner who calls on a doctor or rescuer effectively submits to their authority and undertakes to respect their decisions.

Art. 12 CONTROL AND AID STATIONS

Competitors will be checked at all checkpoints and refreshment stations. Only runners wearing clearly visible race numbers will be allowed access to refreshment stations. A map of the route identifying refreshment points and first aid stations will be published on the website www.trailsacredforests.com. Mobile checkpoints will be located in other places outside the first aid stations and refreshment points. Their location will not be disclosed by the organisers.

Art. 13 TIME LIMITS, CUT-OFF POINTS, WITHDRAWALS, AID STATIONS

Maximum time:

• ULTRA TRAIL 75 km – 4,000 m D+: 17 hours
• LONG TRAIL 50 km – 3,000 m D+: 11 hours and 30 minutes
• TRAIL 25 km – 1,500 m D+: 5 hours and 30 minutes

A ‘sweeper service’ will follow the route behind the last competitor until the end, so that any injured participants will not be left without assistance.

Cut-off points:

ULTRA TRAIL 75 km 4000 D+:
1) Ridracoli Dam – 35 km 7 hours of competition (12 p.m.)
2) Gualchiere – 56 km 11 hours of competition (4 p.m.)
3) Passo dei Mandrioli – 64 km 13 hours of competition (6 p.m.)

LONG TRAIL 50 KM – 3,000 D+:
1) Ridracoli Dam 25 km 5 hours of competition.

TRAIL 25 KM – 1,500 D+
1) Camaldoli Hermitage 9 km 2 hours and 30 minutes of competition.

Competitors who do not arrive within the established time limits will be stopped and will not be allowed to continue the race. To protect the health of participants, medical personnel present at checkpoints or along the route are authorised to stop any competitor who is deemed unfit to continue the race. In this case, the competitor must follow the instructions of the medical personnel, under penalty of immediate disqualification. Competitors who arrive at the time gates after the time limit, those who are injured, those who are deemed by medical staff to be unfit to continue the race, and other athletes who wish to withdraw voluntarily will be accompanied to the finish line by shuttle service. Any competitor who withdraws from the race outside the designated points must make their own way back, immediately communicating their withdrawal by telephone or text message to the number indicated by the organisation. In the event of failure to communicate a withdrawal and the consequent search for the runner, any expenses incurred will be charged to the runner. Food and drinks at the refreshment points must be consumed on site only; drinking directly from the bottles at the refreshment points is prohibited; waste must be disposed of in the appropriate containers. Runners must have enough water and food to reach the next refreshment point. There will be an additional refreshment point at the finish line.

Weather: In the event of severe weather conditions (thick fog, snowstorms, heavy thunderstorms), the organisers reserve the right to make changes to the route, even at the last minute or during the race, in order to eliminate potential dangers or conditions of severe discomfort for participants. Any changes will be communicated to participants and signalled by staff. The organisers also reserve the right to suspend or cancel the race, delay the start, change the route or modify the time gates if weather conditions put the safety of participants, volunteers or rescuers at risk.

Refreshment locations:

ULTRA TRAIL 75 KM 4000 D+ distances: 12 km – 20 km – 25 km – 35 km – 45 km – 56 km – 67 km – finish line

LONG TRAIL 50KM 3,000 D+ distances: 9 km – 15 km – 23 km – 30 km (liquids only) – 35 km – 42 km – finish line

TRAIL 25 KM 1,500 D+ Distances: 9 km – 15 km – finish line

SHORT TRAIL and non-competitive eco walk 14 KM 800 D+ Distances: 8 km – finish line

Art. 14 DISQUALIFICATIONS AND PENALTIES

Immediate disqualification, with withdrawal of the race bib, is envisaged for the following infringements: – failure to pass through a checkpoint – departure from a checkpoint after the time barrier – cutting the race route – failure to comply with the prohibition on being accompanied along the route – leaving rubbish on the route – failure to assist a competitor in difficulty – insults or threats to organisers or volunteers – use of means of transport during the race – refusal to undergo medical checks by medical staff on the route – refusal to undergo mandatory equipment checks, even if only one item of mandatory equipment is missing – use of personal assistance outside the permitted points – abandonment of personal equipment along the route – pollution or degradation of the area by a competitor or a member of their staff – insults, rudeness or threats against members of the organisation or volunteers – refusal to be examined by a doctor from the organisation at any time during the race.

Art. 15 AWARDS

Teams: Top 3 teams by number of competitors in competitive races Athletes: For each distance, prizes will be awarded to: 3 OVERALL MALE AND FEMALE WINNERS AND 3 PER CATEGORY.

Art. 16 IMAGE RIGHTS

By registering, competitors authorise the organisation to use, free of charge and without territorial or time restrictions, still and moving images depicting them during their participation in the Trail.

Art. 17 LIABILITY WAIVER AND CONSENT

Unless otherwise specified, the CSI Regulations apply. Voluntary registration and subsequent participation in the race indicate full acceptance of these regulations and any amendments made thereto. By registering, participants exempt the organisers from any civil or criminal liability for damage to persons and/or property caused by them or resulting from them. The Participant declares: to be fully aware of all the characteristics and specificities of the race, the route, the difficulties and the length of the course, which takes place in the mountains with potentially difficult weather conditions (including, but not limited to, cold, wind, rain, snow, poor visibility, etc.), to be aware of the risks to personal safety associated with the competition and to be aware that participation in this event requires specific preparation and a real capacity for personal autonomy, which he/she certifies to possess. etc.), that they are aware of the risks to personal safety associated with the competition and aware that participation in this event requires specific preparation and a real capacity for personal autonomy, which they certify they possess; to release the organisers from any direct or indirect liability for any pecuniary or non-pecuniary damage, including future damage, illness and/or injury, which he/she may suffer, endure and/or cause, including to third parties, during the entire duration of the event and/or on the occasion of and/or as a result of his/her participation in it; from any liability related to theft and/or damage that may be suffered by any of his/her personal belongings, which he/she is aware are not in any way the responsibility of the organisers; and from any liability for damage that he/she may cause to third parties and/or to property belonging to third parties. The Participant undertakes to carry the mandatory equipment indicated throughout the duration of the competition and exempts the organisation in the event of an accident, illness or damage attributable to the lack of said mandatory equipment. The Participant assumes all criminal and civil liability, including strict liability, resulting from their participation in the event. The Participant consents to the processing specified in the privacy policy, authorising the sending of information material relating to subsequent events or various initiatives proposed by the organisers and authorises any photographic and cinematographic recordings for the creation of videos, notice boards, publication in print and on the web (including downloads).

Art. 18 EVENT CANCELLATION

In the event of cancellation of the race due to force majeure, up to 15 days before the event, the Organisation reserves the right to transfer registrations to the following year. This decision is justified by the numerous expenses that the Organisation has already incurred and cannot recover. In the event of interruption or cancellation of the race due to weather conditions, or for any other reason beyond the control of the Organisation, no refund will be due to participants.

Art. 19 RUNNING WITH DOGS

If the athlete decides to compete accompanied by one or more dogs, they must be kept on a leash to ensure the complete safety of both the athletes and the animals themselves.
